It isn’t the flowers or the candy or the jewelry. It has nothing to do with a nice romantic dinner or a movie about lovers. It’s not even the card that bring tears to a girl’s eyes (though in all honesty the card gets me every time).
It’s all the little things we do for each other that count. Those things that seem so mundane make a huge difference. Love grows and matures just like people. It changes and heats up and cools off and reheats, simmers, boils, even burns on occasion. You know it’s love when you realize he’s the only person in the whole world you want to spend time with, the only one you can’t wait to tell, the only one you ever really miss.
It’s absolutely love when your heart melts because he does the little things like sort the laundry or make your coffee or take the dog out one last time in the dark when it’s a snowy three degrees or record movies he knows you’ll like even though he won’t or run out to help carry in the groceries or surprising you by putting up Christmas decorations in the yard or order the perfect new mattress because the old one is killing your back or making sure you have vitamins and that you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner or call you every afternoon just to say hi and see how the day is going and send you funny pictures that make you laugh when really you want to run from the office screaming.
Those are the little things that get done for me. What about you? What are some of the things the love of your life does that just melt your heart?

Jordan, I agree completely with your post. It’s the things only your spouse knows about you, the things that are so pretty, but that they accept and love you for. It’s wonderful to have such a love in life.
Hi Rebecca. It’s funny how you don’t really know what “the little things” are when you’re a teenager and just starting out. It takes a little life experience to really get it. Enjoy the Hop. Jordan
Great post, Jordan. I totally agree, it’s really the little things that make a difference. Going grocery shopping or getting breakfast for the little one so I can have just a few extra moments of sleep are a few that I can think of.
Hi Cindy. I hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s Day.

My husband does a lot of those little things like you listed. Another thing he does is leaves me sticky notes. Often they are in the oddest of places, but usually where I will find them at some point in my day. I have found the under the toilet lid ( I know, weird), on the mirrors, inside cabinet doors, in the refrigerator, in the dryer and in my car various places. He doesn’t do it constantly but I love the days when he does because it just reminds me of his love and brightens my day. Thanks for taking part in the fun hop with Lynn and all the other authors.
Hi Sharon. I love the note idea. That’s very sweet– even if you’re having to grab one off the toilet in a hurry!
Thanks for hopping over to my blog. Jordan
